That is why strategic management is important as it makes fundamental decisions about the future direction of an organisation, its purpose, its resources and how it interacts with the environment in which it operates.
PPM College Strategic Management short course is designed to equip current and future managers with applied knowledge and skills to meet the challenges of competitive and changing environment, and keep an eye on the organisational goals and objectives. To succeed they must come up with ‘‘sustainable decisions’’ and ‘‘actions’’ that shape and guide the organisation into the future.
The strategic management course is divided into the following sessions: –
Session 1: of PPM College strategic management course:
Introduces learners to the concept of strategic management and the main elements of the subject, it covers its importance, and its role in delivering the purpose of the organisation. Further, it introduces the two main approaches referred to as ‘prescriptive’ and ‘emergent’ strategic purpose and lastly, the importance of analysing the strategic environment is covered. It is therefore important that knowledge of strategic management be part of the manager’s knowledge base.
Session 2: of PPM College strategic management course:
This session covers the importance of analysing resources and capabilities, and strategy development. Managers need to understand that; Strategy development requires following certain steps and also take note thereof how resources add value to the organisation. Learners are equipped with the techniques of how to analyse the strategic environment and the organisation’s strategic resources and capabilities.
Session 3: of PPM College strategic management course:
This session cover the importance of the mission, objectives and ethics related to strategy implementation. The session prepares managers regarding making decisions for the future of their organisations because strategy implementation is through empowered knowledge and Innovation.

- Understand the 3 elements to strategic decision (i.e.), content, context and process of the strategy.
- Analyse the organisation’s strategic resources and capabilities.
- Understand the Stakeholder Power Analysis and balance of power.
- Understand the organisation’s vision and mission and tracking the key elements to measure strategy.
- Understand how the Balanced Scorecard is utilised for facilitating the organisation’s strategy map.
- Understand how the strategy map describes the process of transforming intangible assets into tangible customer service and financial outcomes, across the four perspectives of the Balanced Scorecard.
- Understand Strategy Implementation through empowered knowledge and innovation.
- Understand the role of strategic leadership, management style and culture in strategy implementation.
- Understand the Strategic Management Implementation Process through projects and Programmes.
